Quail Egg

The quail hen lays
an egg a day, not caring
the state of the world.

  1. How many quail eggs does it take to make an omelet?

I always thought quail eggs were the prettiest of the eggs I have seen.

    1. Preppy, we made on omelet using nine eggs and it was close to a full size 3 egg omelet. I would guess four to a single hen's egg.

They are beautiful - and lots of variation. I cannot tell if it is hen specific or just that day. The shells are quite thick, though - surprisingly so.

  3. Thank you Kymber! I would think they would make delightful poached eggs. Actually, we have so many I am thinking of trying my hand at pickling some this weekend.

Actually, everyone here seems so delighted with the quail that I may have to find more recipes. Delightful little birds, easy to keep, space saving.

  4. TB - i am starting to think that our friendship is suffering because i have checked the mail...and we still DO NOT have any quail eggs from you!!! teehee. oh they must be so delicious poached! and you haven't poached any??? i am afraid the friendship will suffer because of that, too! i looooove poached eggs!

try poaching them and then take pics and write a post about it. i would love a post on that! and pickling! and anything involving posts, about quail eggs and haikus and not necessarily in that order or involving everything mentioned. teehee. try figuring that out!

    much love! xoxo

  5. So pickling may on the agenda this weekend, as I am getting a bunch. Let me start with that as well as poaching (never poached anything before) and see where we get. Eggs I worry about shipping; pickled eggs, not so much.
